2. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we may collect your email address, name or nickname if provided, password authentication data handled by our authentication provider, user ID, and account preferences.
User Content
We may store texts uploaded or pasted by users, saved vocabulary, flashcards, pronunciation practice results, and reading progress.
Purchases
When you buy a subscription, we may store purchase status, plan type, transaction identifiers, subscription dates, and payment provider information. We do not store full payment card numbers.
Technical Information
We may automatically collect device type, browser type, operating system, IP address, language settings, app interactions and usage counters. Our servers also keep standard request and error logs, which are generated on our side when your device contacts our services and are used to operate, secure and debug the service.
The mobile apps contain no crash-reporting, performance-monitoring or analytics SDKs, and do not send crash logs, performance measurements or other diagnostic data from your device to us.
Audio / Speech Data
When you choose to use pronunciation or speech recognition features, microphone audio may be processed temporarily through speech recognition providers, currently Microsoft Azure Speech, to generate pronunciation feedback. We do not intentionally store raw voice recordings unless explicitly stated.
3. How We Use Information
We use collected information to provide the Magic Read service, process texts and generate learning content, improve pronunciation and reading features, authenticate users, save user progress, provide customer support, improve platform performance and security, and prevent abuse or fraud.
4. Third-Party Services
Magic Read may use third-party providers including Supabase (authentication and database), Stripe (payments and subscriptions), Apple App Store / In-App Purchase (iOS purchases and subscriptions), Google Play Billing (Android in-app purchases and subscriptions), Vercel (website hosting), Render (backend hosting), Google Cloud services (text-to-speech and translation), Microsoft Azure Speech (pronunciation assessment), and YouTube and caption providers for video lessons. These services may process limited user data as required for functionality. We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use data to track users across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the iOS or Android apps.
5. Payments
Payments are processed securely through Apple In-App Purchase, Google Play Billing, Stripe or T-Bank, depending on where the purchase is made. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are billed by Apple and can be managed or cancelled in your Apple Account subscription settings. Magic Read does not store full payment card information. Subscription billing, taxes, refunds, and payment processing are handled by the relevant payment provider and related financial providers.
6. Cookies
Magic Read may use cookies and similar technologies to keep users logged in, remember preferences, analyze traffic and usage, and improve functionality. Users may disable cookies through browser settings, though some features may stop functioning correctly. See our Cookie Policy for details.
7. Data Retention
We retain user data only as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve the platform. Users may delete their account in the app from Account → Delete account, or request deletion by emailing support@magicread.app from the email address connected to the account.
Account deletion removes the Magic Read account and associated learning data such as saved texts, vocabulary, flashcards, usage progress, and profile preferences, except where limited records must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, tax, or payment compliance reasons.
8. User Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access your data, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, object to certain processing, and request export of your data. Requests may be sent to support@magicread.app.
9. Children
Magic Read is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect user data, including encryption in transit for data sent between the app and our services. However, no online service can guarantee absolute security. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their passwords.
11. International Users
By using Magic Read, users understand that information may be processed in multiple countries depending on infrastructure and service providers.
12. Google Play Data Safety Summary
For the Magic Read Android app, the main data types collected are account information, user-provided learning content, optional voice/audio for pronunciation features, purchase history, app activity, diagnostics, and device or other IDs used for app functionality, account management, analytics, security, and compliance.
Magic Read does not collect precise location, contacts, calendar, SMS, photos, videos, health data, or installed apps. Data collection for microphone-based pronunciation practice is optional and happens only when you use those features.
